Marty Thomas attended the University of Southern
Illinois at Edwardsville, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelors
of Science degree in electrical engineering. Shortly after
receiving his degree, he began work as an engineer with BHMG
Engineers in St. Louis, Missouri. His duties consisted of design
and construction observation for projects related to electrical
and electronic controls for power plants, electric substations,
and water and wastewater treatment facilities. He later became
involved in supervisory control systems, telemetry, and the
control and trouble-shooting of diesel and dual-fuel engine
generator power plants.
In 1992, his duties were expanded to cover transmission and
distribution substation design and field services, implementation
of SCADA systems, and system protection studies for the firm's
municipal and industrial clients in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa,
and Arkansas. In 1998 he became Vice President and a principal
of the firm.
Mr. Thomas has been either a lead engineer
or a team member for a wide range of projects including electric
transmission, distribution, transmission and distribution

substations,
primary and secondary electric feeders, system protection studies,
design, installation, and testing of sophisticated relay protection
and control systems for substations and power plants, generator
voltage conversion, switchgear design and replacement, and
design, development, and installation of SCADA systems, telemetry,
and electronic controls for electric, water, and wastewater
utilities. He is a registered professional engineer in the
states of Missouri and Illinois. |
